The former international turned coach says the Nigeria's qualification to the last four has made the team's doubters to be quiet

Former Green Eagles' midfielder, Ademola Adesina has hailed the country's senior national team for shaming critics and advancing to the semi finals of the ongoing 2013 Africa Cup of Nations at the expense of highly rated Ivory Coast.

Local pundits and football purists had said the Eagles stood no chance against the Elephants of Cote d'Ivoire owing to the crop of individual players they have led by former Chelsea FC talisman, Didier Drogba.

Adesina a maestro in the defensive midfield during his playing days told Goal.com he was happy that the Eagles not only silenced critics but also made people to drop the less fancied appellation of Super Chickens in place of the regular name of Super Eagles.

The current coach of Prime of Oshogbo noted that the determination and the zeal with which the Eagles battled Cote D' Ivoire showed that Nigeria representatives could beat any team any day if they set their hearts on doing so.

"We are through to the semi-finals and we are happy about how we achieved the victory against a better rated Ivoriens.

It was not an easy outing at all against Didier Drogba and company but we thank God our boys didn't disappoint us when we expected such.

He affirmed that he was tense and fearful in the hours before the quarter final clash but said he got his nerves cooled after watching the Eagles' display in the first half of the entertaining affair.

"I wasn't sure of the Eagles before the match kicked off but when I saw the way they took the game to the Ivoriens in the first half and even led at halftime I was forced to change my mind and I thank God we won."

Eagles' defeated the overwhelming pre-tournament favourites in the quarter finals through well taken goals from Emmanuel Emenike who increased his goals haul to three and Sunday Mba's late wonder strike. Cheick Tiote's earlier second half equaliser turned out a mere consolation.

Nigeria will clash with The Eagles of Mali who are still smarting from the victory recorded over hosts, South Africa for a place in the final on Wednesday.
