The Spartak Moscow forward says he is preparing to score more goals and emerge the highest goal scorer in the Africa Cup of Nations
In a chat with Goal.com on Wednesday at the Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg, the Spartak Moscow forward was confident of his team’s chances in the competition and his ability to emerge the highest goal scorer at the end of the competition.
“I am very happy that we are in the quarter-final stage of this competition where anything can happen. A lot of people have written us off like they did before we played against the Ethiopians but we not only emerged victorious we also qualified to the quarter-finals of the competition,” Emenike told Goal.com.
“Before coming to this competition I prayed to my God and also worked very hard both in my club and in the national team.
"I can tell you that my ambition is to help my country win this competition as well as emerge the highest goal scorer of this tournament,” he said.
The Nigerian team had an hour work out at the Olympia Park, starting their training session at exactly 4.30pm local time (5.30pm Nigerian time).
They will play against Cote D'Ivoire in Sunday's quarter final game.
