Kano Pillars coach has said that it is a good thing that six players from the Nigeria Premier League will be at the Nations Cup
Chigozie Agbim, Reuben Gabriel, Ejike Uzoenyi, Sunday Mba, Godfrey Obaobona and Azubuike Egwuekwe were named in the 23 man Super Eagles list releasedon Wednesday night.
"I am so happy because it means our efforts have not gone in vain," Ganaru told Goal.com from his Kano base.
"This is what we have been praying for and now that it has happened, I hope the players will use this opportunity to show the whole world that we have good players in the Nigerian Premier League (Npl).
"We only witnessed this type of recognition during the Westerhoff era. And at that time, a lot of good players able the local league were able to get into the Super Eagles teams," he added.
Players like Daniel Amokachi, current Eagles coach, Moses Kpakor, Finidi George, Isaac Semitoje, Edema Fuludu and others played important roles in the Super Eagles because Westerhof scoured the length and breadth of the league venues for good players.
"Now we are going back to era and it is a good thing for the home lads and the game in general in the country.
"Players in the league will now know that you don't have to travel outside the shores of the country to get the needed recognition t be invited to the Super Eagles.
"I am proud of the six players and I am sure they will justify the confidence reposed in them. This is a big break for the coaches and players in the Npl.
"I hope that the people in charge of the League now will take advantage of what is going on and put in their best to make the Npl one of the best in the world," concluded Ganaru.
