Brazil’s national soccer governing body, the CBF, has signed a ten-year agreement with SPR Sports that will see the company assemble and operate an official store network on behalf of the organisation.
SPR will manage the stores through the same franchise system it employs in conjunction with Brazilian club soccer sides such as Corinthians, Vasco, Botafogo, Cruzeiro, Internacional and Vitória.
“We have already started the process of selecting our business partners for the operation of the CBF stores,” said André Giglio, the franchise director at SPR. “We are adopting the same system we use in our more than 200 specialised points of sale in football.”
As part of the deal, the company obtains the license to sell products manufactured by Nike, the CBF’s official kit supplier, through a range of outlets including ‘shops, kiosks and corners’.
Unbranded Brazilian national soccer team products will also be sold, with 2014 set to be a record year for A Seleção merchandise sales due to the country’s staging of the Fifa World Cup this summer.
