Nigerian soccer star Emmanuel Emenike has agreed a personal endorsement deal with telecommunications firm Globacom.
The 26-year-old, a rumoured transfer target for Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, becomes a brand ambassador for the Lagos-headquartered firm.
Emenike currently plays for Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbache and was unveiled as a ‘Glo ambassador’ at the Mike Adenuga Towers in Lagos on Friday 3rd January. The firm is already a major sponsor of Nigeria’s national soccer team, the Super Eagles, and the Nigeria Premier League.
Globacom’s national sales coordinator Segun Adeyemo said: “Globacom has always been in the forefront of sports development in Nigeria and Africa, committing over N$9 billion to the holistic development of the sector.
“We have stood by the nation’s football because we believe that this is the most patriotic thing to do as a proudly Nigerian telecoms brand.”
Nigeria became the first African nation to qualify for next summer’s Fifa World Cup after a 4-1 aggregate win over Ethiopia in November last year.
