Chelsea has agreed a five-year extension to its partnership with credit card lender MBNA.

In place since 2002, MBNA said its Chelsea credit card partnership is one of the company’s most successful, with thousands of fans in the UK already holding a credit card bearing the club’s colours and badge. The extension of the deal coincides with MBNA launching a new and improved credit card for UK fans of the European champion.

Ron Gourlay, Chelsea’s chief executive, said: “Over the years, we have forged a close, successful relationship with MBNA and, together, we have developed a competitive credit card programme for our supporters in the UK. We look forward to another five years with MBNA and to continuing to provide quality products for our supporters. This is a unique opportunity for UK-based fans and helps to support the development of Chelsea FC’s future stars.”

Michael Donald, MBNA’s business development and commercial executive, added: “We are delighted to renew our partnership with Chelsea FC – a strong, successful brand known the world over.
