Mark Fish believes that Orlando Pirates still has a lot of hard work ahead of them in the Caf Champions League
Pirates defeated Al Ahly 3-0 on Sunday, with their dominant performance being considered as one of the finest in the Buccaneer's history, even though the Egyptian champions played the match while fasting and in an empty stadium.
Mark Fish believes that the side should not rest on their laurels following their impressive win, as they will now be targeted for the rest of the competition as the team to beat.
"It is obvious that the team has matured very well since their victory over TP Mazembe," Fish told Orlando Pirates official website,"But having said that, they need to remain focussed - the players will have to play very smart now and understand that the going will get tougher.
"The next match against Zamalek won't be easy. Those guys [Zamalek] will be very well prepared for this match. The result against Al Ahly will make them prepare better than ever before. Pirates is the team to beat right now and they better be prepared for any backlash from the North African giants."
The defender wants Pirates to adopt the same state of mind they employed against Al Ahly in the El Gouna Stadium, where the Buccaneers remained calm and punished the defending champions. Fish also believes that home form will be vital for Roger de Sa's outfit as the competition continues.
"It is important to remain humble and approach the remaining matches with the same mentality. Go there as underdogs, but make sure that if we get a chance to hurt the opposition, we do it," Fish says.
"It is good to win away but it is even better to win at home. The refereeing is not always going to be the same as the one they got against Al Ahly. It will be different so, my advice the team would be to make sure we get results at home."
