Abia Warriors central defender Abiodun Adebayo has hailed his side's character as they scored a late goal to defeat Plateau United 2-1 at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday.
The Ocendo Babes struggled to break down the Peace Boys in their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clash, but finally got their breakthrough at injury time through brace hero Shedrack Asiegbu to secure the win.
"We kept digging away and showed great character. Asiegbu started and had worked hard in training. He got the important goals for us," Adebayo told Goal.
"I thought we played better, moved the ball a bit sharper because they were there for the taking, but games are won on different qualities. We showed the heart of a lion out there. We really dug in.
"We just try to win as many games as we can. We'll try to dig out result and see what we can do. I think we've got good enough players to achieve something, we'll just see what that is.
"The fans were brilliant, they saw us through to the end. The victory is for the Abia Warriors family."
