Next few ties will define Remo Stars' season, says Walbe

The Sky Blues recently moved off the foot of the table, and the shot-stopper claims the next few games will prove vital in their fight for survival

David Walbe believes outcomes in Remo Stars' next few encounters will determine their fate in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Eric Dufegha's 48th-minute goal secured a vital 1-0 win over Nasarawa United at the Gateway Stadium in their last topflight encounter.

The El Kanemi Sports Complex hasn't been a good hunting grounds for opponents in the topflight. Walbe is confident they can improve in light of their heroics against Nasarawa United.

"We set a standard [against Nasarawa] and we need to keep it going," Walbe told Goal.

"It was a reminder that we're still a good footballing team. We passed the ball well and played good football.

"We have tough fixtures in the coming weeks, which will probably define our season. We must build on this. Starting with the match with El Kanemi Warriors, we have the capability to match them player for player and cause an upset."

While the mood in the Sky Blue Stars' camp is buoyant, the same cannot be said of the Desert Warriors as they come into Sunday's clash without a win in three matches.
