NPFL Matchday 20: Shooting Stars bow to FC IfeanyiUbah at home

The Anambra Warriors fired on all cylinders to hand the Oluyole Warriors an embarrasing defeat at the Lekan Salami Stadium

Shooting Stars 0-3 FC Ifeanyi Ubah  

Shooting Stars' poor form in the topflight continued as they fell to a shocking 3-0 defeat to FC IfeanyiUbah at home.

The Anambra Warriors' first goal came courtesy Godwin Obaje while their second was as a result of  Pascal Seka's determination and drive.

3SC's Adebayo Abayomi saw his 27th minute spot kick saved by goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa. 

The Oluyole Warriors huffed and puffed but lacked any incisiveness as the visitors dealt quite comfortably with anything thrown at them. 

The away side were pegged down to ten men when Bright Onyedikachi was sent off 18 minutes from time. 

King Osanga made the game safe courtesy of a late free kick. In the end, the ambitious Nnewi side saw out the contest with relative ease to record their fifth victory in their last seven matches.

MFM FC 0-0 Akwa United 

It was a share of the spoils but an unwanted result for MFM as they were held to a 0-0 draw by ten-man Akwa United in Lagos.

Stephen Odey could have been the hero on the day, but he turned he failed to convert from the spot. 

The Olukoya Boys dominated the game but goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo put up a man-of-the-match performance as the Promise Keepers took home a valuable point despite an 87th minute red card issued to Afeez Aremu.

KatsinaUnited 1-1 Plateau United 

Plateau United kept their place at the top of the top tier division following a 1-1 draw with Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium. 

Chinedu Udechukwu poked home from a rebound to get the Baldwin Bazuaye-managed side to a bright start.

Daniel Itodo was at the right place to equalise for the Peace Boys after good work from Philip Azango a minute before the hour mark.

Enugu Rangers 2-1 Gombe United 

Enugu Rangers fought tooth and nail to come from a goal down to claim a 2-1 win over Gombe United in a highly entertaining game played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

The Flying Antelopes enjoyed most of the possession in the early stages of the game, but things changed when Abdulwaheed Afolabi silenced the hosts in the 12th minute.  

Rangers managed to restore parity through Godwin Aguda before the end of the first half.

Some minutes after the hour mark, Gombe's Austine Oladapo was sent off for a rash challenge.

The numerical advantage galvanised Rangers to snatch the winning goal thanks to Ebuka Okeke in stoppage time, much to the delight of the home crowd as the reigning league champions continued their resurgence.

ABS FC 2-1 El Kanemi Warriors 

ABS edged El Kanemi Warriors 2-1 in a pulsating match played at the Kwara Stadium Complex. 

Kehinde Ayinde broke the deadlock for the Saraki Boys following a scramble in the box. 

New signing Dele Olorundare restored parity in the 40th minute with a wonderful header from Bala Yahuza's wonderful cross to make the scores 1-1.

Ebuka Anawkwe was the hero for ABS as he dribbled five players before slotting home the winner.               

Sunshine Stars 0-1 Lobi Stars

Lobi Stars have given their league title dream a major boost after an impressive 1-0 success at Sunshine Stars.

The Pride of Benue started the day eight points behind leaders Plateau United and four above the Owena Whales.

Former Sunshine forward, Kingsley Eduwo grabbed what turned out to be the winning strike in the 15th minute of action. 

Kano Pillars 1-0 Niger Tornadoes 

Kano Pillars had not won their last six games going into this clash but gave themselves a morale booster with a 1-0 victory. 

Sai Masu Gida grabbed the three points at stake against Tornadoes with a goal from new signing Junior Lokosa. 

Pillars have now won eight matches this season but have inflicted a dent on the title ambition of Tornadoes.

Rivers United 1-0 Nasarawa United

A left-footed strike from Ayo Saka handed ten-man Rivers United of Port Harcourt their eighth victory of the season after they pipped the Nasarawa United 1-0 on Saturday.

Rivers were down to 10 men after skipper Festus Austine was booked for the second time following a deliberate handball on the half hour mark.

It took 39 minutes for the Pride of Rivers to record the only goal of the match after former Sunshine Stars defensive midfielder Saka put the ball in the net as Zoumana Doumbia claimed the assist.

Wikki Tourists 3-0 Abia Warriors 

Wikki Tourists climbed off the relegation zone after securing a 3-0 win over Abia Warriors at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.

Two goals in the first half and a strike in the second half gave the Giant Elephants all the three points.

Ahmed Usman gave the hosts the breakthrough 12 minutes into the game. Livewire Samuel Chukwudi increased the advantage from the penalty spot while Kabiru Mohammed finished the business in the 58th minute to end proceedings at 3-0.
