Stone Evbuonwan netted in the 84th minute to help the Saraki Boys avoid a home loss after Mfon Udoh had given the People's Elephants the lead two minutes after the restart.
"There are lots of positives to take from the draw," Gata told Goal.
"We were quick to get off the mark and tried to exploit their weak areas.
"The first 20 minutes was very strong - we controlled the match at some stage. We had a good team talk at half time, and early in the second half we scored a killer goal.
"But they managed to stay in the game, came back, kept going and equalised.
"We will take it in good faith and continue accumulating points in our future games."
Enyimba are now ninth in the Nigeria Professional Football League table with 19 points from 14 matches.
