Chima Akas thumbs up Enyimba for ABS’ draw

The injured People’s Elephant’s defender has praised the effort of his teammates who secured a point in Ilorin on Sunday

Enyimba defender, Chima Akas has hailed his teammates after they secured a 1-1 draw in Ilorin against ABS on Sunday in a league tie.

Akas was ruled out of the tie to injury and the former Sharks left back stated that it was important they left the Kwara Sports Complex with at least a point to continue with their new found form of the last three games and that having secured that, they will come back home to prepare adequately for Rivers United their next opponents this weekend.

“It was very important we got the point we did in Ilorin. We are gradually coming back to form and ensuring that we extend our unbeaten streak is very crucial. A point is better than nothing even though the three points would have been ideal. This result will give us a better platform to prepare very well for the tie with Rivers United,” Akas told Goal.

The People’s Elephant shot into the lead in Ilorin through Mfon Udoh for his sixth goal of the season but their hosts leveled up from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute through and the draw has taken their points tally to 19 from 14 games and are ninth on the log. They host Rivers United on Sunday in Calabar in a tough league tie.
