Abia Warriors close pre-season with 3-0 win over Ebonyi United

The Umuahia side ended 2016 in impressive style after bashing their Abakaliki visitors and will go on yuletide break on Friday.

Abia Warriors have rounded off 2016 with an impressive 3-0 victory over Ebonyi United in a friendly match played at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Tuesday evening and the club is expected to proceed on a break from Friday this week for the yuletide period.

The Umuahia side managed to escape relegation at the end of the last league season after last minute intervention of stop-gap coach, Abdullahi Biffo but the team have had the best of pre season towards next season where they have played over 10 matches without any loss.

They ended their pre season exercises on Tuesday with a convincing 3-0 trouncing of Ebonyi United through the goals of Chima Uluocha, Durable Nwuju and Stanley Okoro and the Umuahia side’s Assistant Coach, Patrick Ngwaogu has disclosed that Abia Warriors won’t be back benchers in the 2016/ 2017 league season which starts on January 15.

Ngwaogu told Goal: “We finished our pre season with a 3-0 win over Ebonyi United. It was a very interesting game and our boys took their chances to record the emphatic victory.

"We are proceeding on few days break from Friday December 23rd, 2016 to 3rd January, 2017 when intense preparations for the resumption of the league season will start. We are confident that with the structure on ground, Abia Warriors won’t disappoint in the coming season.”
