The Uyo side attributed their hard work as the brain behind their shock win over Enyimba and are hoping to silence the Solid Miners on Sunday

Akwa United players and officials are relishing their first points at the Super Four pre-season tournament after they braved all odds to beat Enyimba in the second game played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Friday evening.

Harrison Ibukun’s 17th minute header was all the Promise Keepers needed to tame the Aba Millionaires.

Media Officer of Akwa United, Uwem Ekoh told Goal that their victory over the People’s Elephants was the ideal reward for their hard work since the start of their pre-season and feel pained bowing to Warri Wolves in their opening fixture.

He also said the team won’t rest on their oars as they have fixed their sights now on Nasarawa United whom they are hoping to beat also as they step up their recovery process.

“Everyone is happy including the players and officials. They are delighted that smiles have come back to their faces after the loss to Warri Wolves,” Ekoh told Goal.

“It was a tough game but we won. We are not going to dwell too much on this. We want to concentrate on our last game against Nasarawa United

“They have not beaten us before and we are hoping to record a win on Sunday,” he concluded.
