The Ogbomosho-based Nigeria Premier League outfit has received a confidence boost with two weeks to go before their first game against Lobi Stars
The government of Oyo State has assured newly promoted Nigeria Premier League club Crown FC of robust support ahead of the on-coming 2013/14 league season.
The assurance was given by the state commissioner for Youths and Sports Development Mr Umar Faruq Alao-Arisekola during a reception at his residence in Ibadan.
According to the club’s spokesperson, Oyekunle Oyeleye, the reception was planned to unite the club and boost the morale of the club as the new Glo Nigeria Premier League season begins in two weeks.
Faruq stated that the get-together was intended to assure the team that state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi is solidly behind them as the only top flight club from the state.
Faruq urged the players and officials to reflect the state’s true pace-setting status as failure will not be condoned with the government assurance of logistics and improved welfare package.
“We should be constantly aware that the seal of the State the club carries must reflect her true pace-setting status as in the coming hostility.
“They cannot afford to fail at this crucial juncture that all necessary logistics for the success is already in the kitty, that of an improved welfare package for all is already concluded for the win-win outing,” Faruq said.
In a response, team manager Niyi Akande pledged to ensure that the club again “shines” in the current top flight.
Coach Lawrence Akpokona promised to put his many “years of experience” in the league to ensuring the club wins a continental ticket at the end of the season.
Crown Football club travel to Markurdi for a clash with Lobi Stars in the week one fixture at Katsina-Ala on Febuary 23.
