Teams have commenced friendly matches as they hope to be in the best shape before the start of the national premier league
Nigeria Professional Football league champions, Kano Pillars, Bayelsa United, Nasarawa United and Kaduna United are the four clubs poised to take part in a pre-season competition billed for next week in Kaduna State.
The competition is put together to assess the readiness of the four clubs ahead of the Globacom Premier League season for 2013/14 which is scheduled to start later in February.
Speaking with Goal on the pre-season build up, general manager of Kano Pillars, Alhaji Abba Galadima hinted that Sai Masugida are yet to confirm their participation in the tournament. He stressed that the league defending champions will consider the overall interest of their club and the players first before either giving the go ahead or staying put in Kano to continue with the rest of their preparation for the season.
Bayelsa United on their part are putting on finishing touches to their movement ahead of their departure to Kaduna next week.
Kaduna United are also billed to take part in the competition where they are hoping to rub shoulders with some of the best clubs in the elite division. They didn't do too well last season and are looking at ways of re-launching themselves back to reckoning.
The Kaduna sides are coached by experienced Ben Duamlong and are desirous to return to the 2010 era when they won the Federation Cup at the expense of Enyimba and went ahead to qualify for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
