El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri have reclaimed third spot on the Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) table after the club defeated Dolphins 2-0 in a delayed tie played on Thursday at the El Kanemi Stadium.
The Zachary Baraje coached side have leapfrogged Kano Pillars who occupied the position in the interim on Thursday morning after the Kano side beat Kwara United in Kaduna United. El Kanemi and the league's reigning champions, Pillars are both levelled on 57 points but the Maiduguri side have played a game more. El Kanemi are ahead on better goals difference.
Pillars will play Enyimba on Wednesday at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja with the tie very crucial to where the league shield will go this season. It was ordered to be replayed at the orders of the Appeals Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation.
