The Potters' striker continued his goal scoring form over the weekend as his strike secured victory for his team against Hull City among a flurry of Nigerian strikes in Europe

ENGLAND

Peter Odemwingie's goal secured victory for Stoke City in their 1-0 defeat of Hull City at the Britannia on Saturday.  The Nigerian capitalised on a mistake by Ahmed Elmohamady to run clean through on goal and slot past Steve Harper in the 61st minute.

He now boasts of five goals in eight appearances for Mark Hughes’ men since his arrival from Cardiff City in January. Sone Aluko made a 71st minute appearance for the Tigers but his efforts could not save Hull from defeat. It was Aluko’s 15th appearance of the campaign.

Victor Moses made a second half appearance for Liverpool in their 4-0 defeat of Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield. The Chelsea loanee replaced Raheem Sterling with less than ten minutes to the end of the encounter that saw the Reds assume leadership position of the English Premier League. Moses has played 16 times for Brendan Rodgers’ men this season.

Mikel Obi was left on the bench by Jose Mourinho as Chelsea stumbled to a lone goal defeat at the Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon. John Terry's own goal put a huge dent in the Blues' title hopes as Crystal Palace boosted their survival chances. Obi has featured 20 times for the west Londoners in the English Premier League this season.

Kenneth Omeruo was on parade for Middlesbrough as they got an away victory over Brighton and Hove Albion in the English Championship.  He was substituted for Nathaniel Chalobah in the 71st minute. The former ADO Den Haag player has been a constant performer since his loan move from Chelsea making seven appearances for Aitor Karanka’s side.

FRANCE
Vincent Enyeama was in action for Lille OSC as they beat Guingamp 1-0 in the French League at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. Salomon Kalou’s strike in the 90th minute ensured Les Dogues maintained the third position in the Ligue 1.

The Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper has not missed a league game for Lille since his arrival from Israel playing 31 times and conceding 19 goals in the process.

Elderson Echiejile was handed his second appearance in the French topflight as AS Monaco crashed 1-0 at Evian Thonon Gaillard. An 83rd minute penalty converted by Cedric Mongongu handed Monaco their fourth defeat of the season as Echiejile was on parade for the entire duration of the game.

TURKEY

Michael Emeramo scored Karabukspor’s only goal in their 1-0 defeat of Besiktas in the Turkish league. The former Esperance of Tunisia striker was cautioned with less than seven minutes to the end of the game. His compatriot in the club Joseph Akpala was left out on the substitute’s bench. Eneramo now boasts of four goals in nine outings.

Godfrey Oboabona was not dressed by Caykur Rizespor as they defeated hosts Akhisar Belediyespor 3-2 in the Turkish topflight. The Super Eagles defender has scored just once for the Sparrow Hawks in 13 games since joining from Sunshine Stars.

John Utaka was on target twice in Sivasspor’s 3-2 defeat of Gaziantepspor. His goals in the 15th and 90th minutes ensured his club moved to the fourth position on the Turkish topflight.


ITALY

Ogenyi Onazi featured for the entire duration of Lazio’s 3-2 defeat of Parma at the Stadio Olimpico. The former Golden Eaglets star was booked in the 43rd minute of the cracker that marked his 25th game for the Blue and White in the Italian Serie A.

Obinna Nsofor was on parade for Chievo as they bowed 3-0 to AC Milan at the San Siro. A fourth minute strike from Mario Balotelli and a brace from Ricardo Kaka ensured Clarence Seedorf’s men continued their winning streak after a 2-0 victory at Fiorentina. Nsofor made way for French attacker Cyril Thereau in the 63rd minute of the game.

SPAIN



Ramon Azeez made a second half appearance for Almeria in their 1-0 away defeat to Real Valladolid. A fifth minute strike from Manucho proved sufficient for the hosts that are still languishing in relegation waters. Azeez has made 25 appearances for the Spanish outfit this season plus a goal to his credit.

Nosa Igiebor was not named in the Real Betis squad that defeated Levante 3-1 away in the Spanish  Liga. The Nigerian has been in and out of injury since his move from the Israeli league. He has been played just nine times by manager Gabriel Calderón this season.

SCOTLAND

Efe Ambrose featured for 90 minutes for Celtic as they were held 1-1 by Ross County inside Celtic Park. The Hoops clinched the Scottish Premier League title last Wednesday after beating Patrick Thistle 5-1. The Nigerian has appeared in all except one game for Celtic in the Scottish league this season.

GERMANY



Chinedu Obasi
was on target for Schalke 04 in their 2-0 defeat of Hertha Berlin in the German topflight at the Veltins-Arena on Friday night.

His right footed shot from a difficult angle on the right to the bottom right corner courtesy of an assist from Joel Matip put his side ahead in the 16th minute of the highly entertaining encounter.

With just 28 seconds into the second half, the former Lyn Oslo player provided an assist for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar who doubled the lead for the home side with a left footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner. Obasi has played nine games for Die Königsblauen in the Bundesliga this season.
