The Nigerian midfielder was on target twice for his French Ligue 2 outfit, but crashed out of the Coupe de France on Tuesday night
Sunday Mba registered his name on the scorers’ sheet twice for CA Bastia as they bowed 4-2 to Angers after extra time in the Coupe de France round of 16 played at the Stade Jean Bouin on Tuesday.
Mba got the curtain raiser of the match in the 31st minute with a well taken strike but Khaled Ayari drew level for the hosts in the 57th minute.
After both sides failed to get the winner in the remaining 33 minutes, play dragged into extra time.
The former Warri Wolves player put his side in the lead again with his second goal of the night for Stéphane Moulin’s men in the 105th minute but his side threw away the advantage to let the hosts get three more goals through Charles Diers, Mohammed Yattara and Jeremy Blayac in the second half of extra time.
Angers with this win thus move into the quarter finals of the Coupe de France at the expense of Mba’s team.
The Super Eagles player now boasts of four goals since making his debut for Les Noirs against Niort in a league game and he will be hoping to increase his goal tally when they visit Dijon on Friday in a Ligue 2 encounter.
