Nosa Igiebor out of World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia

The Real Betis midfielder has aggravated a groin injury in training which now requires surgery

Super Eagles midfielder, Nosa Igiebor will not take any part in the World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia this weekend in Calabar. And this is because of a groin surgery that he is to undertake this week in Spain.

The Real Betis midfielder has missed his team’s last two matches because of the problem and seems to have aggravated it in training.

He missed the 4-1 loss to Barcelona on Sunday though he was declared fit last Thursday and was included in the squad for the Europa League match away to Vitoria Guimaraes though he was not featured.

Igiebor had surgery on the troublesome groin last season which caused him to miss the start of this season but is expected to be available by the end of January 2014.

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has had to replace another injured player, Uche Nwofor with Bright Dike and should certainly call up a replacement for Igiebor any time soon.

The Super Eagles opened camp for the match against Ethiopia on Monday and have a 2-1 advantage over Ethiopia.

They are expected to consolidate that win with another one on Saturday to book their place at the 2014 World Cup taking place in Brazil.
