The former Super Eagles defender made another start for Anzhi Makhachkala in the Europa League on Thursday
Anzhi Makhachkala with Dele Adeleye continued their recent woeful form, both locally and in Europe as they lost 2-0 to Tottenham at home in the Europa League on Thursday.
Anzhi are bottom of the Russian league with just six points from 11 matches of which Adeleye has played just 270 minutes and two matches in the league after his recent transfer.
"The defeat was a painful one because until Defoe scored they had no attempt at goal," Adeleye told Goal.
"We have to pick up ourselves with the hope of getting back a win against Rubin Kazan on Sunday.”
He said the loss of many quality players has affected the team. The team has lost players like Samuel Eto’o, Yuri Zhirkov and Willian amongst others.
"Some players left and that had a great impact on the team but we will be up against Rubin Kazan.
“The departure of some players left the squad a bit depleted but I believe we will be ready to face Kazan on Sunday,” he concluded.
