Ex-Flying Eagles' coach, Abimbola Samuel has tipped Nigeria to correct their anomalies in the first and thus kick start their quest for a quarter final ticket against the Mambas of Mozambique when they clash in Cape Town on Wednesday evening.
The Prime FC of Oshogbo head coach in a chat with Goal noted that the CHAN Eagles never got their bearing against the Malians but stated that they should not be written off just yet.
"The first game should be an eye opener for the team. Everything went wrong from the start to most part of the second half. I am a bit relieved that they raised the momentum of their game a bit in the second half. I am hoping that they will improve drastically against the Mozambicans and thereafter square up against the South Africans if they want to get to the next round,” Abimbola told Goal.
"It will be a sad way to start the New Year for football in Nigeria if the Eagles fail to lift their game and crash out in the first round.
“I believe they can still do something but first they must beat Mozambique well to nurture any ambition of a next round ticket,” he said.
