thumbnail Hello,

The Afonja Warriors have beefed up the squad for the second round of the season with a quartet of new signings

Kwara United have strengthened their squad for the second round of the league with the addition of four new players.

The Afonja Warriors have signed on Aminu Awalu from Gombe United, Uche John who last played for Kaduna United, Lobi Stars goalkeeper John Lawrence and another goalkeeper from Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Ibrahim Wasiu.

Kwara United media officer Olayioye Olusola Ajide told Goal that they have cleared all the players and they will be in action against Shooting Stars in Ibadan when the Nigeria Professional Football League resumes on Wednesday.

"We don't want to take chances in the second round of the league and that is why we have reinforced our team with four new players.

"It is important that we add fresh legs to the team because the second round will definitely be tougher than we envisage.

"And we signed on two goalkeepers because one of our reliable goalies, Kazeem Yekeen is now with Shooting Stars. I am hopeful and confident that we are going to continue with our excellent performance from the first round.

"Kwara United is poised to play in the continent next year and the only way we can achieve that aim is to continue with our splendid performance from the first round.

"The four players will greatly strengthen our team and I can safely say that we are ready for the second round of the Premier League," Ajioye said.

Kwara United are third on the league table with 32 points.
