The French side's chairman says the attacker will not be moving to Spain this month, despite reports that the club had agreed a loan deal for the 26-year-old
Olympique Lyonnais chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has dismissed reports linking Yoann Gourcuff with a move to Atletico Madrid. The clubs had reportedly reached an agreement on a prospective loan deal for the midfielder, with Lyon prepared to contribute toward the player's wages.
But Gourcuff was thought to be pushing for a permanent move to the Spanish capital in an effort to prevent a return to France.
And now Aulas has suggested the reports were false, and cited the player's representatives for the erroneous reports.
"There has never been anything except [from the] agent's unconfirmed wishes," Aulas told France Football.
It is understood Gourcuff will now consider advances from England and Turkey, if an agreement cannot be reached for a permanent switch to Los Rojiblancos, but Lyon are reportedly reluctant to let the player leave in the mid-season.
