Siem de Jong reveals Bundesliga dream
The Ajax midfielder has openly expressed his desire to join his brother, Luuk, in Germany, but says he is in no rush to leave his current club any time soon
Ajax captain Siem de Jong has revealed that he would love to follow his brother Luuk in making the move from the Eredivisie to the Bundesliga, but stressed he will honour his deal with the Dutch champions. The 23-year-old midfielder came through the ranks at the Amsterdam ArenA, and although he is happy in the Dutch capital, is not ruling out a move in the future.
"I would like to play in the Bundesliga someday," he told NuSport.
"I don't know why, but I think that the competition in Germany will suit me. Maybe it's because my brother Luuk already plays there.
"After the summer I still have a contract at Ajax for two seasons, so I'm not in a hurry to leave. I would like to win the Dutch title again this season and maybe also reach the Europa League final."
De Jong has won just one full cap for his country, but is hoping to make an impact at international level at some point in his career.
"For myself I would like to be selected for Oranje as well, and hopefully as soon as possible."
