Leverkusen chief rules out return of Manchester United striker Berbatov
The German side have been linked with a move for the Bulgarian, who looks poised to depart the Red Devils this summer, but have cited the cost as a stumbling block
Bayer Leverkusen chief executive Wolfgang Holzhauser has revealed that the club are not in the running to sign Dimitar Berbatov from Manchester United this summer. The Bulgarian striker enjoyed a successful spell at the German side before moving to England, initially with Tottenham, and had been linked with a transfer back to his former team.
However, Holzhauser has conceded that the Bundesliga outfit will not be able to re-sign the 31-year-old, telling Rheinische Post: “Berbatov would only have been interesting if he did not have a fee."
