The Uruguayan defender has hailed his side's work rate after Atletico Madrid claimed Liga glory against Barcelona at Camp Nou on Saturday
Diego Simeone's side only needed a point from the trip to Camp Nou to secure the title for the first time since 1996 and the Uruguayan's header saw them deliver the Primera Division crown.
They could have sealed La Liga the previous week, but could only draw at home to Malaga, however, Godin insists that failing to win the title never entered their mind.
"We weren't afraid, but it was a really weird week," he told Marca.
"We had it in our hands there, but in the end in we had to play in a tough league against the best Barcelona of all time.
"As we always say, we had to work our asses off and we have played like that all season: with amibition, with a lot of heart and knowing that we had to run and fight."
Godin also feels that Simeone has been key to his side's reveral in fortune, with the Argentine having delivered four trophies in two and a half years at the Vicente Calderon.
"He transmits a lot, every day, during every training session. We trust him a lot that's one of the keys. At half-time, he told us that he had faith in what we were doing and were back on the right track and that the goal was coming."
