Barcelona will fight like Tito - Mascherano

The Argentine has described the immense sorrow he felt at his former coach's passing and is hoping to honour his memory with a Liga triumph
Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano says his team-mates will fight for the Liga title in the memory of former coach Tito Vilanova.

The 45-year-old passed away on Friday following a lengthy battle with cancer and the Catalan side came from behind to beat Villarreal 3-2 on Sunday thanks to a late Lionel Messi winner.

The Argentine says that his old boss instilled a brilliant spirit in the team's players and is hoping to honour his memory in the grand manner this season.

"Each one of us is getting on in our way," he said.

"Everything is so fresh and the only thing we can do is stand by his family and try to share their pain. Tito always treated me very well. Whenever we won a title, I would hug him and thank him for the experience.

"What we have to do is fight until the end like Tito. We have a lot of fight left in us.

"We knew that his battle was a hard one but we never imagined that this would happen until it did."
