The Rojiblancos boss has called on his squad not to think too far ahead in this season's La Liga campaign, hoping that excitement can overcome anxiety as the end draws near
Los Colchoneros can extend their lead at the top of La Liga to three points with a win over relegation-threatened el Geta on Sunday, after Barcelona slipped to a shock 1-0 defeat at Granada on Saturday.
Atletico saw off Barca to reach the Champions League semi-finals in midweek and go into their last six games of the season with the prospect of lifting a first league title since 1996 in their hands - and Simeone has insisted his team will try to enjoy the pressure.
"We should be enjoying what is happening," the Argentine told journalists.
"There are four Spanish teams in the semi-finals of the Europa League and the Champions League and we're trying to be top of the league.
"We're competing very well in the League. I always said that the League is important to us and tomorrow we have an important match with an opponent that has needs, and we know they always fight hard when playing against us. We're solely focused on what the fixture entails and we hope to respond the same way."
Atleti hold an advantage over city rivals Real Madrid, with a superior head-to-head record after a 1-0 win at Santiago Bernabeu in September, and are hopeful of maintaining their lead to the resolution of the campaign.
"Time is running out and you have to know how to manage that," Simeone continued.
"But it'll depend on how we deliver as a team. We've had four days to recover and tomorrow we'll see if we rotate or not. Today, more than ever, we live match-by-match. It's important to isolate the outside and feel and live what’s really going on."
Atleti are top of La Liga with 79 points from 32 games, level with Madrid and one ahead of Barcelona having played a game less than their rivals.
