The 52-year-old official has signed on for another two years with the Catalan club, on the back of three successful seasons with the team he represented as a playerBarcelona director of football Andoni Zubizarreta has agreed a contract extension that will keep him at Camp Nou until 2016.
The former Spain international's existing deal was set to expire next summer but he has now decided to stay on for at least another two years.
"He will be signing his new contract over the next few days," read a statement on Barca's official website.
Zubizarreta is currently in his fourth season as the Catalans' director of football, during which time the team has won two Liga titles, one Champions League, one Copa del Rey and a Fifa Club World Cup.
The 52-year-old Basque spent eight years keeping goal for the Blaugrana during his illustrious playing career.
