VIDEO: Watch Dani Alves sink Brazil

The Barcelona defender made the difference in the Selecao's narrow loss against Switzerland with his own goal
Only months after winning the Confederations Cup at the expense of Spain, Brazil's unbeaten run came to an abrupt end on Wednesday as Switzerland proved to be too strong in Basel.

It was not one of Switzerland's stars such as Xherdan Shaqiri or Gokhan Inler who sank the Selecao, though, but Barcelona defender Dani Alves who gifted the Ottmar Hitzfeld's men a 1-0 home win with an unfortunate own goal.

The right-back attempted to head clear a Haris Seferovic cross from the right in the 48th minute, but his header inadvertently found the top corner to beat Jefferson between the sticks.

Luiz Felipe Scolari's men did their utmost to restore parity in the remainder of the game, but they failed to find the net as Switzerland eventually emerged victorious courtesy of Alves' goal.
