thumbnail Hello,

The Barcelona full-back man has played in most positions for the Catalan side but expressed concern about his ability to perform against a tall Bavarian forward line

Barcelona defender Adriano has expressed doubt about his ability to compete in the air against Bayern Munich's forwards in the Champions League semi-final first leg on Tuesday night.

Should he feature in the heart of defence against the German side, the Brazilian could face the likes of Mario Mandzukic, Mario Gomez and Claudio Pizarro - all of whom are powerful target men that the full-back admitted he might struggle to contain.

"If I have to play [at centre-back] against tall players [against Bayern], I'll need to put springs in my boots!" Adriano joked to Mundo Deportivo.

"But playing is the most important thing for me. There is a lot of competition [for places] and we all want to play, but I would be equally happy to play anywhere in a Champions League final."

Adriano then addressed the issue of whether he wishes to remain at Barcelona, given that his current deal concludes in 2014, and he admitted that there are no talks between himself and the club right now despite his desire to stay.

"I wish to stay. Currently, negotiations have stopped. Barcelona made their proposals and we made ours, but there is nothing complete," the full-back added.

"I'm happy at Barcelona, because of the trophies I have won, this weather, the supporters, the city, the people... I really want to stay. Sure [I am ready to compromise in terms of contract], no doubt. If there is a chance to find an understanding, I'll do it."

The Brazilian then stated that suggestions that Barca have had it easy in the league this season are unfair, arguing that, whilst they may make it look easy, such suggestions aren't made when another team heads the table.

"La Liga has never been easy and never will be. People say that it is easy because we win... If others teams win La Liga then it is [said to be] more complicated," Adriano added.

"We are pleased because at the beginning of season people had doubts about where we would be at this stage but we are doing well. We are happy.

"Without a doubt [we've had a successful season]. We have a very good advantage in La Liga. Any team would want this season: have that advantage and be first from the start in the League and be two matches away from the Champions League final."
