San Jose to miss Olympics due to illness

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has announced that the Athletic Bilbao defender has left the training camp because of chicken pox
Spain coach Luis Milla has received some disappointing news on the fitness front ahead of this summer's Olympics in London as Athletic Bilbao defender Mikel San Jose has been ruled out of the event.

The former Liverpool man was included in Spain's provisional 22-man squad for the Olympics, but the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has announced that San Jose has been forced to withdraw due to illness.

The 23-year-old has contracted chicken pox and has left Spain's training camp as a result. San Jose's departure is yet another blow for Milla after the previous withdrawal of Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara due to injury.

The Spain boss must cut his squad to 18 before their opener against Japan at Hampden Park on July 26.
