The influential midfielder has dismissed rumours that the relationship between the duo has gone sour in recent weeks, and stressed that Tito is the right man for the jobXavi has insisted that there is no rift between Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola and his assistant Tito Vilanova.
Ahead of the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao, a number of reports suggested that the relationship between the duo has turned sour ever since the announcement that Vilanova will replace Guardiola at the helm at the end of the season, but Xavi has stressed that there is no truth to the rumours.
"Everything is quite normal, the relationship between Guardiola and Tito is excellent and we are all united," Xavi stated to reporters.
"These rumours are inevitable. We can’t control what goes on around us. Everyone is free to speak their mind, but the squad are only concentrating on the cup final.
"Tito is a highly respected figure among the players. He sees a lot of football and is passionate about this game. He knows the place and he also played a key role in the successes of the last four years. He’s the least drastic change, and the right choice."
Barcelona are currently preparing for the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao on May 25.
