Ronaldo reiterates that Neymar needs to leave Brazil 'to conquer the world'
The retired striker still believes that his compatriot will have to ply his trade away from his homeland in order to develop his skills to the maximum
Brazilian legend Ronaldo has reiterated his belief that Santos forward Neymar needs to move to Europe to realise his full potential. The 20-year-old prodigy has committed his future to Santos until 2014, when his contract expires, despite being on the wish-list of some of Europe's biggest clubs.
Ronaldo, who spent most of his playing career outside him homeland, has said on many occasions that Neymar needs to try his luck in Europe to become the best player in the world, and he has not changed his opinion.
"My opinion about him is still the same," he told ESPN Brasil. "Brazil's current moment is not ideal to keep a player of this calibre.
"When I gave my opinion, I was thinking about the player, and his ambition to conquer the world.
"It is very beautiful for Brazil that he stays here, his quality sets him apart from the rest, and we can see this every weekend."
Neymar, who broke into Santos' first team in 2009, has 16 Brazil caps to his name, scoring eight goals in the process.
