Celtic offer support to Sno following cardiac arrest

The Scottish champions have said that the thoughts of the club are with the Dutchman and his family after the player suffered a heart attack playing for NEC

Celtic have released a statement offering their thoughts and support for their former midfielder Evander Sno and his family after the Dutchman suffered a heart attack playing for Eredivsie outfit NEC during their 5-1 defeat at Feyenoord.

Sno previously suffered a cardiac arrest while playing in an Ajax reserve match in 2010, and as a consequence was fitted with an internal defibrilator which in this instance helped reverse the dangerous situation and enabled the Dutchman to walk off the pitch.

Sno will spend the night being monitored in hospital, and Celtic have said the 25-year-old could always count on the support and assistance of his former club.

"The news that former Celtic midfielder Evander Sno had suffered a heart attack during a league game on Saturday was naturally a shock to everyone at the club and was quickly followed by an outpouring of concern for his well-being," the statement read on Celtic's official club website.

"Clearly all the best thoughts and best wishes of everyone at the Club are with Evander and his family at this time, and we are sure Evander can also count on the support from the entire Celtic family."

Sno, 25, was a player at Parkhead between 2006 and 2008, making 30 appearances and scoring one goal for the Scottish champions.
