Nigeria's U-20 Women national team, the Falconets defeated Gwanghou High School boys 2-0 on Tuesday in a friendly match played at the Namhae Sports Park in South Korea.
Desire Oparanozie got the goals for the Falconets in the 50th and 52nd minutes.
Tuesday’s match was the team’s first since they arrived in Korea last Thursday for their final preparation towards the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup which kicks off in Japan on August 19.
The match was watched by members of the House Committee on Sports and the team dedicated the win to the delegation.
“We are dedicating our goals and victory to the committee," remarked Gloria Ofoegbu, the captain of the side.
Honourable Godfrey Gaiya, the committee chair, led the delegation comprising of deputy chair Ayo Omidiran, Kareem Bisodun and Ebbo Abdul Ibrahim.
"I am very happy that my colleagues watched you girls win today because l have boasted to them that you are a good side,” said Omidiran.
“I want you to take this winning spirit to Japan.”
"We are happy to have seen you as we bring good wishes from Nigeria," added Gaiya.
