Mikel Obi on parade in Chelsea win

The Nigerian midfielder came on as a second half substitute as Jose Mourinho’s men romped to a convincing win at Burnley on Monday night

Nigeria international John Obi Mikel played for nine minutes as Chelsea smashed English Premier League newcomers Burnley 3-1 in the game played at Turf Moor.

He replaced Oscar in the 81st minute to ensure the Blues kept their two-goal margin.

Goals from Diego Costa, Andre Schurrle and Branislav Ivanovic were all the Roman Army needed to move to the summit of the Premiership after they had gone down in the 14th minute through Scott Arfield's goal.

Mikel was left out of the starting lineup as manager Jose Mourinho preferred the combination of Oscar, Cesc Fabregas,  Nemanja Matic and Schurrle in midfield.
