AKWA UNITED 1-0 LOBI STARS
Akwa United defeated Lobi Stars 1-0 at the Uyo Township Stadium on Sunday through a 67th minute strike from Kufre Ebong. The visitors held the Promise Keeper for most part of the game before Kufre scored a rebound off Namso Edo’s free kick that rattled the crossbar.
The hosts made a promising start to the season but they are fast losing their quest for a continental slot with some poor results at home and their free fall away from home. They have 22 points from 15 matches with Lobi Stars boasting of 22 points from 16 games.
FC TARABA 1-0 HEARTLAND
The Jalingo boys claimed a big win by piping Heartland at the Jolly Nyame Stadium on Sunday.
FC Taraba's head coach Ndubuisi Nduka and Esom Tochukwu had scores to settle with Heartland before the match as they were both sacked from the Naze Millionaires under cloudy circumstances
Former Naze Millionaires' midfielder, Tochukwu came back to haunt his former team with a nice header in the 65th minute to the excitement of the visitors who are yet to win a single game in their last three games. FC Taraba are on 22 points from 15 matches while Heartland are on 18 points from same number of matches.
ABIA WARRIORS 3-0 CROWN FC
The Umuahia side walloped the Ajilete Boys 3-0 at home to stretch their unbeaten run to five matches starting from their home duel with Akwa United.
Bishop Onyeudo got Abia Warriors' curtain raiser in the closing stages of the first half while Peter Onyekachi and Ndifreke Effiong added to the misery of the visitors in the second half. Crown have lost all their away games this season.
Abia Warriors are on 21 points from 14 matches while Crown are on 20 points with a game more.
WARRI WOLVES 1-1 SHARKS
The Blue Angels took their unbeaten streak to nine matches in the league this season after an awesome draw at the den of title challengers Warri Wolves on Sunday. Tayo Fabiyi who came on in the second half leveled scores for Gbenga Ogunbote’s team after Gbolahan Salami had put the hosts ahead early in the game.
Warri Wolves are on 21 points from 15 matches while Sharks are with 27 points from same number of matches.
ENUGU RANGERS 3-3 GOMBE UNITED
It was a six goal thriller at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium Enugu as Gombe United came from 3-1 down to pick their first away point in about three seasons.
Osagona Ighodaro fired Rangers to a sensational 3-1 lead but Ibrahim Abdullahi's opener and two goals from Adamu Mohammed shifted attention to the Desert Scorpions towards the end of the match.
Rangers are on 18 points from 15 matches with Gombe United boasting of 16 points.
SUNSHINE STARS 1-0 NASARAWA UNITED
Muyiwa Lawal's 85th minute free kick was good enough to ease the pressure on Sunshine Stars head coach, Henry Abiodun who has been given ultimatum by the Ondo State Football Agency to get three wins from their next four matches.
The Lafia side tried to get the equaliser but to no avail. Nasarawa United are still second on the log with 24 points from 15 matches while Sunshine improved to 22 points.
GIWA FC 4-0 KADUNA UNITED
Giwa FC's Ibrahim Shuaibu's hat trick was the highlight of the league tie played at the Rwang Pam Stadium on Sunday. The Jos Elephant had slowed down a bit from their electrifying start to
the season but picked up with a convincing home victory against hapless Kaduna United.
The Jos Elephants are on 21 points from 14 matches while Kaduna United are a spot from the base of the log with 15 points from 15 matches.
KANO PILLARS 2-1 EL KANEMI
The Sai Masugida launched their new bus with a close 2-1 win over El Kanemi Warriors in Kaduna's Ahmadu Bello Stadium where they were banished to due to crowd violence.
Adamu Hassan's 55th minute strike was the match-winner for the Kano based football outfit. Pillars are on 21 points from 14 matches while El Kanemi have 17 points from 15 games.
ENYIMBA 3-0 NEMBE CITY
The People's Elephant's strikers did their job creditably after they scored the three goals that returned Nembe to their home ground empty handed.
Abdulrahman Bashir put the Aba Millionaires in the driver's seat in the second minute before Mfon Udoh added two more goals to make the day safe for the home team. Nembe are at the bottom of the table with 13 points from 13 games while Enyimba are gradually gaining momentum with 22 points from 15 encounter.
DOLPHINS 2-0 BAYELSA UNITED
The Pride of Port Harcourt improved their ranking on the league table with a comfortable win over the Restoration Boys at the Liberation Stadium, Elekahia.
Dolphins are on 21 points from 15 matches but still have lots of works to do to challenge for the league title. Bayelsa United on their own part must also return to winning ways to keep pace with
their impressive start to the season. They are currently on 20 points from 12 matches.
