The Blue Angels piped Rangers to continue their charge for the league title as other top three teams emerged victorious in the Week 14 games played across the country on Wednesday
HEARTLAND 1-1 ABIA WARRIORS
The Naze Millionaires have been plunged into another mini crisis following their failure to beat Abia Warriors on Wednesday. Heartland’s last home win was against Enugu Rangers which they won 2-0
but they could not re-enact the heroics prior to Warri Wolves' encounter where they surrendered their eight-match unbeaten run.
Though a heavy rainfall threatened the tie initially but play was allowed to go on. The visitors got the curtain raiser Ifeanyi Onyeali who capitalised on a moment of panic goalkeeper Ebele Obi but Heartland fought back through Bright Ejike in the 86th minute.
Heartland are 17th on the log with 17 points from 14 matches while Abia Warriors are 13th with 18 points from 13 games.
KADUNA UNITED 2-2 KANO PILLARS
The Crocodile Boys produced a remarkable outing to hold the league reigning champions but the draw did no help to the club's downward slide on the league table. Kaduna United came into the match with the ambition to secure maximum points towards moving out of relegation waters.
Kaduna United are on 15 points from 14 matches and are placed 18th while Kano Pillars are gradually coming up with 18 points from 13 matches. They are placed 10th with a game at hand.
CROWN FC 2-1 WARRI WOLVES
The Ajilete Boys secured another morale boosting victory at home to the Seasiders just like they did to Sunshine Stars in the last home game. This victory catapulted Crown FC to the sixth position on the log with 20 points from 14 matches.
Warri Wolves on their own part are fifth with 20 points from as many games.
EL KANEMI WARRIORS 1-1 ENYIMBA
The Maiduguri based outfit played another draw at home after they were held last week by Dolphins in Kano. El Kanemi had their work cut out against Enyimba who were desperate to get points after some poor results recently.
The Peoples Elephant scored first through Bobby Sokari in the 44th minute but Emmanuel Anayo made scores even from the penalty spot in the 80th minute. The away point took Enyimba's tally to 19 points from 14 matches and are eighth on the table while El Kanemi are placed just slightly above
the drop zone with 17 points from 14 matches.
LOBI STARS 3-1 FC TARABA
Lobi Stars side have jumped to third on the log with 22 points from 14 matches. They took the lead through Eche Idakwo in the fourth minute with Joshua Abanyi doubling the lead in the 29th minute to go into halftime break with two goals up.
Things got worse for Taraba as they conceded a third courtesy of Sani Mohammed in the 61st minute. However, the visitors got their consolation goal through Tersa Abaya's freekick in the 88th minute.
NEMBE CITY 1-0 DOLPHINS
The Yenagoa side have come out of their not too impressive start to the season as they posted a good display for their third back to back home win of the season.
Nembe are on 13 points from 13 games while Dolphins are 12th on the log with 18 points from 14 matches.
SHARKS 1-0 ENUGU RANGERS
The Blue Angels maintained their two points lead at the top after a close 1-0 win over the Flying Antelopes in Port Harcourt. Christian Pyagbara scored the only goal of the game in the 18th minute
off a pass from Ajani Ibrahim.
Sharks lead the log with 26 points from 14 matches while Rangers are 15th on the log with 17 points.
NASARAWA UNITED 2-0 GIWA FC
The Solid Miners are still firing on all cylinders after they emerged victorious over the Jos Elephant in a game played at the Lafia Township Stadium. Esosa Igbinoba scored the first goal before the second goal few minutes later
The Lafia side are second on the log with 24 points from 14 matches while Giwa FC are still on 18 points from 13 games.
BAYELSA UNITED 1-0 AKWA UNITED
The Restoration Boys leapt to fourth on the log with 20 points from 12 matches after a narrow 1-0 home win over the Promise Keepers at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
Peter Ebimobowei got the only goal of the match for his sixth goal of the season. It was the striker's fourth consecutive goal in his last four games.
Bayelsa United still have two games at hand and will go level on point with Sharks if they secure victory in those matches. Akwa United are on 19 points from 14 points.
