The Blue Angels posted another five-star performance against Sunshine Stars to sit atop the Nigeria Premier League table

SUNSHINE STARS 3-3 SHARKS

Sharks got a morale boosting draw in Akure as they forced hosts Sunshine Stars to a 3-3 draw on Wednesday to remain on top of the Nigeria Professional Football League table after week 13 encounter.

Sunshine had come into the game with the ambition of bouncing from their lost to Crown FC but got stunned by Gbenga Ogunbote’s men. Ifeanyi Inyam stunned the hosts with the opener for
the Blue Angels but the Akure Gunners replied with two goals courtesy of penalties calmly converted by Oduokpe Oghogho.

The home team increased their lead to 3-1 and were coasting to another home win before Sharks equalised through Chima Akas and Frederick Obomate. Sharks lead the Nigeria Premier League with 23 points.


KANO PILLARS 2-0 NASARAWA UNITED

Judging by their shaky position on the league table, Pillars were condemned to win the league tie despite playing few kilometres away from home due to their banishment by the League Management
Company(LMC) to Kaduna for their next three league matches due to crowd violence.

 Their 2-0 win over the Solid Miners improved their lot on the league table as they now boast of 17 points 12 matches though they still have an outstanding league match against Bayelsa United. Nasarawa United are second with 21 points from 13 matches.

DOLPHINS 1-0 AKWA UNITED

Dolphins made it another nice weekend for Rivers representatives in the league after they battled to a 1-0 home win over Akwa United to add up to the valuable draw Sharks secured at Akure against Sunshine Stars.  With this result, they now have 16 points from 13 matches.

ENUGU RANGERS 2-0 CROWN FC

The Flying Antelopes shook off their disappointing away loss to Heartland last Wednesday by defeating Crown FC 2-0 in a NPFL Premier League Week 14 tie played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

The players of the Flying Antelopes responded to the call from their head coach, John Obuh to shape in or ship out like some recently suspended players with a win over the Ajilete Boys. Pierre Coly left his defensive duties to nod home the curtain raiserin sixth minute before former 3SC star, Osagona Ighodaro put the icing on the cake with his 78th minute strike to the delight of the home crowd.

Rangers are on 17 points from 12 matches while Crown FC boast of same number of points but are below the Flying Antelopes on goals difference.

WARRI WOLVES 1-0 HEARTLAND

The Seasiders beat the Naze Millionaires 1-0 at their slaughter slab in Warri to remain in pole position for the league title. Gbolahan Salami scored the decisive goal in the 50th minute for his sixth goal of the campaign which came off a goal mouth scramble after Heartland’s goalkeeper Ebele Obi had failed to properly clear from safety the initial shot played towards his goal area.

The defeat was another setback for Heartland who recently Prince Ibeh Okechukwu as General following the dismissal of Fan Ndubuoke.

ENYIMBA 1-0 KADUNA UNITED

The People's Elephant lost over  a dozen scoring chances in their NPFL Week 14 tie against Kaduna United at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba and had to rely on the individual brilliance of newly recruited Sani Kaita to conjure up a 1-0 win over the Crocodiles.

Enyimba now have 18 points from 13 matches with Kaduna United still wallowing in the relegation zone with 14 points from 13 matches.

ABIA WARRIORS 2-1 LOBI STARS

Abia Warriors came back from a goal down to beat unlucky Lobi Stars 2-1 at the Umuahia Township Stadium. The Makurdi side shocked the home team by grabbing the opener in the sixth minute but two goals from Bishop Onyeudo and Dafe Omonigho handed vital three points to Ladan Bosso’s men.

It was Abia Warriors second consecutive victory and now boast of 17 points from 12 matches with a rescheduled tie against Nembe City yet to be played while Lobi have 19 points from
as many matches.

GIWA FC 1-0 GOMBE UNITED

Giwa FC continued their impressive season with another victory over Gombe United at the
Rwang Pam Stadium.

Hassan Babangida's sixth minute goal proved to be the match-winner in the tension soaked affair. Amos Gyang supplied the vital ammunition when his tailor made pass found a lurking Babangida who breezed past stranded Chigozie Agbim who was in goal for the visitors.

Giwa FC now have 18 points from 12 matches while Gombe United who are still searching for their first away point still have relegation to worry about too. They are still on 14 points from 13 matches.

FC TARABA 2-1 BAYELSA UNITED

The Restoration Boys lost their second successive game in the league for the first time this season after losing 2-1 to the Jalingo Boys at the Jolly Nyame Stadium.

Peter Ebimobowei netted his fifth goal of the campaign for the visitors but only proved to be a consolation. FC Taraba are on 19 points from 13 matches while Bayelsa United are still on 17 points from 11 games. They still have two matches at hand.

NEMBE CITY 1-0 EL KANEMI WARRIORS

The Yenagoa side secured their second home win of the season in their torrid campaign in the NPFL this season after a 1-0 triumph over El Kanemi Warriors at the Krisdera Hotel Pitch at Omoku on Sunday
evening.

El Kanemi are yet to win a match in their last three games and are in danger of getting relegated if they do not improve in their coming games. Nembe have 10 points at the bottom of the log from 12 matches while El Kanemi have claimed 16 points from 13 games.
