The Super Eagles coach has confirmed the Belgium-based youngster's readiness to play for the national team and rejected growing rumour linking the forward to the Red DevilsNigeria coach Stephen Keshi has dispelled rumours that Standard Liege forward Imoh Ezekielis seeking to dump his country of birth for Belgium.
Keshi has handed the former 36 Lion striker an invitation in his 23-man team for the March 5 international friendly against Mexico in Atlanta, USA.
The coach, who is on holiday with his family in the USA, reacted to the rumours and described it as baseless.
“I speak with the lad every time and he has expressed his willingness to be part of the Eagles. I wonder where people got that story that he has dumped Nigeria,” Keshi was quoted by the Tribune.
Ezekiel’s rejection of invitation from former U-20 coach John Obuh to play for Nigeria at the 2013 African Youth Championship in Algeria unargubly has continued to heighten fears of his willingness.
The CAF African coach of the Year, assured Nigerians on the 20-year-old forward’s resolve to play for his fatherland.
“He told me he can’t wait to wear the Eagles jersey and I think the Mexico friendly will be a perfect stage to do that,” said Keshi.
