The Nigeria Football Federation president hopes his windfall would spur the girls to victory at the Fifa U17 Women World Cup in Costa Rica
President of the Nigeria Football Federation Alhaji Aminu Maigari has given the Nigeria U17 women team the sum of five hundred thousand naira.
The Flamingoes are currently preparing for the 2014 Fifa U17 Women billed for Costa Rica.
According to the NFF boss, his donation is aimed at spurring the girls towards giving their best as they get set to challenge for trophy in the championship expected to last between March 15 and April 4 2014.
“I am happy at the way the team’s preparation is going and gladdened with reports of your performance in the training. We want the best as management and hope to provide you the needed support and motivation to make the country proud at the world cup,” said Maigari while addressing the players and team officials.
“I will urge the officials and players not to get distracted but remain focus and determined to bring home the trophy.
“I trust you girls will make us proud by reaching the world cup finals,” he concludes also promising that the girls will be acknowledged into the hall of fame if they return from Costa Rica with the trophy.
Nigeria is in Group D alongside China PR, Colombia and Mexico. The Flamingoes will play their opening game against China PR on March 16 , 2014 at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela.
