The former junior international has hinted that the present senior national team has all its takes to supplant the achievements of the 1994 group
SS Lazio of Italy's anchorman, Onazi Ogenyi has stated that the current Super Eagles under the guard of Stephen Keshi can go ahead to surpass the record set by the same team that represented Nigeria at the 1994 World Cup in the United States.
The 1994 set then under the captaincy of incumbent Eagles coach has been rated as the best senior national team side ever to be presented by Nigeria but Onazi has revealed that in no time at all the current Eagles squad have the savvy to rewrite record books.
The Keshi led Eagles team won the African Cup of Nations in February in South Africa this year and is on the verge of sealing a spot in next year's World Cup to be played in Brazil. Onazi told Journalists at the UJ Esuene Stadium that united Eagles in all ramifications can better that of the 1994 class.
"Unity and togetherness have been our anchor. We love each other. We play as a team both inside and outside the pitch and we communicate. It won't be easy breaking the mark set by the 1994 squad but with more hard work it is not mission impossible," said Onazi.
The 1994 Eagles won the AFCON crown in Tunisia in 1994 and went ahead to get to the second round of the 1994 World Cup finals before losing to Italy in Boston, United States.
The team was very close to nicking a spot in the last eight before allowing the Azurris back into the game with barely two minutes left on the watch.
