The Nigerian international has said individual Chelsea players have to stand up and be counted
After two consecutive losses and going into Saturday's home match against Fulham in the English Premier League, midfielder Mikel Obi has stated that the Chelsea team on current form is beatable by any team.
He made this assertion after back-to-back losses to Everton, which they lost 1-0 and their 2-1 home loss in the Champions League against FC Basel on Wednesday.
“If we play the way we did here, we have a chance of losing to anyone we play,” Mikel told the Daily Express.
“We go back to training now and must look at the things we have done wrong and try to put it right. It was really, really bad – a very bad result for us.
“We knew the kind of team we were playing against. We knew how good they are on the ball and what they can do.
“The manager spoke about how we had to put them under pressure from the first half, the first minute so they don’t have a chance to win here.
“But we didn’t do any of that. It’s disappointing for us and also to our fans.
“The way we lost the game. Coming from another defeat at Everton we wanted to use this game to put things right but we didn’t do that.
“Individually, we didn’t turn up. The next Champions League game we have to put ourselves in the position of qualifying from this group.
“With the players we have, the calibre of players, I don’t think we should be afraid of anyone. But we have to put things right,” he concluded.
