As attention shifts to the Teslim Balogun Stadium for the grand final of the oldest football competition in Nigeria between Enyimba and Warri Wolves, Lagos has put together brilliant plans to ensure this year’s closing ceremony outshine previous editions.
In a chat with Goal, the chairman of the Main Organising Committee, Enitan Oshodi has promised football fans across the country a better Federation Cup grand finale on Sunday.
“From year to year, we look to improve on the Federation Cup which is the oldest tournament in the country. What we are trying to do is create some of this history and bring new innovations and make it exciting for the fans.
“Apart from having a very good game tomorrow, there are few things that will be lined up especially in honouring past players that has made this competition what it is. A few big players from yester-years will be around tomorrow and they will be honoured by the Lagos state governor,” said Oshodi.
Legendary football commentator Ernest Okonkwo with Federation Cup legends like Paul Hamilton, Jossy Dombraye, Toyin Ayinla, Dominic Iorfa, Walter Oyatogun, Sebastian Brodricks, Stanley Eguma and Joe Erico will be bestowed wiith awards of excellence in Sunday’s final.
