Kano Pillars have returned to the summit of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after they edged Akwa United 1-0 in a rearranged Week 23 clash played at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Wednesday.
The match was postponed to September 4th after the technical crew of the reigning league champions were involved in a motor accident in Kaduna State while they were returning from a Federation Cup quarter final clash in Ilorin.
The only goal of the match was scored by Rabiu Ali and it was his 11th goal of the season.
Pillars overtook Bayelsa United at the top with 51 points from 29 games while the Yenagoa side slid to second with 49 points.
