Sunshine players, coaches to get half pay

The Akure Gunners have had their emoluments slashed by half by the management after the team's unimpressive results in the league
The coaches and players of Sunshine Stars have been placed on half salaries while coach Henry Abiodun has been drafted to the team to alter the recent slide in their fortunes.

Sunshine suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss at Akwa United at the weekend and this has prompted the management to slash the salaries of both the players and coaches until the situation of the Akure Gunners improves for the better.

The management also drafted Abiodun, who until recently was the technical instructor to the Ondo State Football Agency as the technical adviser of the Akure side, with immediate effect.

Abiodun is an experienced coach who once handled defunct Exide FC of Ibadan.

He has worked in various capacities in the United States of America and produced the blueprint for the Ondo football youth development programme.

At the early stages of the season, Sunshine fired coach Samuel Abimbola and appointed former Eagles coach Fatai Amoo.

Sunshine Stars have slipped to 13th on the Nigeria league table with 38 points from 29 matches.

They host regional rivals Shooting Stars on Saturday in continuation of the league needing all points so that they don't get plunged into relegation zone.
