The executive director of the Ondo State Football Agency says the Sunshine Stars skipper will soon make a move and that he did not use abusive words on Arsenal FC
As reports suggesting Sunshine Stars captain Godfrey Oboabona took a swipe at Arsenal FC for inviting him to the Emirates Stadium for trials continue to generate heated arguments, Mike Idoko, the Executive Director of Ondo State Football Agency, has opened up on what actually transpired.
The astute football administrator claims the Super Eagles new kid on the block never for once used foul words on Arsene Wenger or the club in an exclusive with Goal.
“It’s so disheartening that some people went about cooking up stories that Godfrey insulted Arsenal after they requested for him to come on trials. No he didn’t! I have discussed this with him and I think he was misquoted out of context. I want that impression to be corrected. Godfrey is humble and disciplined to have done that,” Idoko told Goal.
“All he frowned at was the club going for trials after his hectic time at the Nations Cup and Confederations Cup which he believes is not proper. Arsenal has been his childhood club and if any opportunity comes to play for them, he will grab it with both hands,” he added.
Commenting on the likely destination of the attacker-turned central defender, the ex-Warri Wolves general manager insists that their star player will only leave for the best club that has his interest at heart.
“We have gotten about three to four offers for him. In fact, Godfrey and I are looking into it in conjunction with the management, we will look for the best one for him and I can assure you that before the end of the transfer window closes, he would have gotten a deal,” Idoko submitted.
