Enyimba, Lobi Stars, Akwa United and Warri Wolves are through to the semi finals of the 2013 Federation Cup after the quartet enjoyed victories over their quarter final opponents across four centres in the country on Wednesday.
The Peoples Elephant defeated hard fighting Nasarawa United 1-0 through a goal scored by Bobby Sokari Kingsley in the 55th minute in a match played at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.
Lobi battled before send packing Akwa Starlets 2-1 in another last eight tie played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
Chimaobi Nwaogu put the Makurdi Arsenal on winning path when he opened the scoreline but Akwa Starlets evened the scoreline before another strike from Victor Obina Jnr settled the day for Lobi with about seven minutes to the end of the match.
Warri Wolves were three goals better than Kano Pillars in a tie played at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.
Musa Najere's brace and one from Oghenekaro Etebo in the 9th, 15th and 32nd minutes ensured the Seasiders progressed to the last four for the first time in their history.
While the Cinderella cup run of the Heartland of Owerri got evaporated in the quarter final by determined Akwa United at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
The Uyo side won the tie through penalty lottery 5-4 after the regulation time had ended 1-1. It was Heartland's first lost in the competition since 2010 when they were beaten 0-2 by Enyimba in the quarter final of the competition. Enyimba would later go ahead to qualify for the final but lost to Kaduna United on penalties.
The two semi final fixtures have now surfaced with Enyimba slugging it out with Lobi Stars and Warri Wolves sizing up Akwa United in the part two of their league's unfinished confrontation.
